In his directorial debut, Dustin Hoffman takes on Ronald Harwood’s acclaimed stage play, which is set in a retirement home for musicians. Tom Courtenay, Billy Connolly and Pauline Collins play three long-time friends and former opera stars whose tranquil life is disrupted by the arrival of the fourth member (Maggie Smith) of their once legendary Rigoletto quartet. Painful memories return as artistic temperaments clash. The result is an understated, performance-driven drama.
