Adapted from the graphic novel by Posy Simmonds, 'Tamara Drewe' is the contemporary tale of a Londoner returning home to the country - and to her past. Tamara (Gemma Arterton, 'The Disappearance of Alice Creed'), once a shy, ugly teenager, has reinvented herself as a smouldering femme fatale. She is barely recognisable to the locals and she kicks up a trail of envy, lust and scandal wherever she goes. Tamara is the ultimate modern girl, but for all her independence, ambition and sex appeal it's actually the vulnerable, fish-out-of-water underneath that makes her story, beautifully directed by Stephen Frears ('The Queen'), funny, moving and very human.
