From Michael Haneke (‘Hidden’, ‘The Piano Teacher’) comes this year’s Cannes Film Festival winner. Shortly before the First World War a series of disturbing incidents in an Austrian village ignites suspicion and distrust amongst the locals, leading to a tragic conclusion. Beautifully composed in black and white, ‘The White Ribbon’ is further proof of Haneke’s position as one of contemporary cinema’s greatest directors.
